Legal for Trade NTEP Scales
A National Type Evaluation Program (NTEP) certified scale is required for any commercial application that bases a financial transaction on the weight displayed on the scale. These are also referred to as Trade Legal Scales or Legal for Trade scales. These can be any scales from balances used to measure or sell jewelry and precious metals, retail price computing scales for delis, and farmer's markets, to large industrial scales like truck scales, forklift scales, and shipping scales. Virtually any category of scale has commercial applications in retail and commerce.
