Medical scales are a great way to measure body weight and sometimes body mass index for select applications. These scales are mainly marketed to convalescent and assisted living facilities, kidney dialysis centers, schools, and sports teams. Physician scales weigh people who can stand on a scale unassisted, and some can also measure height. Pediatric scales weigh babies. Bariatric scales use handrails to help people who can stand but need a little something to lean on. Chair and wheelchair scales are great for weighing people unable to stand on a scale. Patient lift scales can raise a patient from the bed using a sling and weigh them suspended directly above their bed. Veterinary scales weigh dogs, cats, and other small animals.
